About the
Foundation
The Mesites Foundation was developed in
2006, when Bob Creo, a fellow attorney who directs a
foundation called Mediators Without Borders, asked me
whether I would support his organization. MWOB is a
non-profit group that sends litigators all over the world
to teach mediation skills to people in developing
countries. I believed that MWOB’s mission is important, but
I wanted to do more for the cause of international conflict
resolution than merely writing a check and walking away.
I feel that mediation could have a greater impact on global
culture if its concepts are taught to undergraduate
students and underrepresented groups, particularly women. I
also believe that the concepts of mediation could be made
applicable to a wide variety of disciplines beyond the
legal world, such as politics and religious ministries.
The Mesites Foundation will introduce the role of mediation
to a broader audience, thereby opening the door to a much
wider variety of applications than in the past, which is
quickly becoming a necessity in our multicultural society.
We hope that with such learning structures in place, a new
generation of mediators will be able to bring diplomatic
solutions to a wide range of conflicts across the globe.
